Privacy & Cookies
The short version
Before The Light Goes is the personal photography gallery of Carlos Rodríguez Pacheco. It does not run advertising and does not set tracking cookies. Fonts are self-hosted, so no data is shared with third-party font services. Because nothing here stores non-essential cookies, there is no cookie-consent banner to click through.
What the site stores on your device
One thing, and it is not a cookie. The homepage shows a different photograph on each visit, so it remembers the name of the last one in your browser’s session storage to avoid repeating it immediately. That value is simply the name of a photograph. It is not an identifier, it cannot be used to recognise or track you, and your browser discards it when you close the tab.
Analytics
Analytics are currently disabled. If enabled later, this site will only ever use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that records anonymous, aggregate data and stores nothing on your device.
Contact form
If you send a message through the contact form, the name, email address and message you type are transmitted to Formspree, the form provider, and forwarded to Carlos Rodríguez Pacheco’s personal inbox so he can reply. Formspree processes the message on servers in the United States. Your details are used for that reply and nothing else. There is no mailing list, and they are never sold or shared further.
The lawful basis is legitimate interest: you wrote to ask something, and replying is the whole purpose. Messages are kept only while the exchange is still useful and are deleted when it is over. You can also ask for yours to be deleted sooner, at any time.
Hosting
The site is hosted and delivered by Hostinger, whose servers keep standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. Those logs are not used to build any profile of you, and nobody reads them to see who visited.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete any personal data you have shared, which in practice means the contents of a message you sent. You can also object to it being held at all. Ask through the contact form, which reaches Carlos Rodríguez Pacheco directly. He is the data controller for this site.
If you are not happy with how a request is handled, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
